How A Cracked Door came into being

As soon as I started hearing about blogs I thought how cool but I am not a writer I can’t do that.  One of my friends started a blog a few years ago and it is wonderful.  But she is a writer so it reinforced my doubts.  Then Twitter happened and I was engaged with some wonderful people, several of whom have blogs. These blogs are engaging, funny and informative, and still I thought, I can’t do that.

About 8 months ago my BFF decided to switch careers and start her own Independent Rep biz.  We had a great time thinking about all that would be needed to get her name out and thus a blog was born.  I had a great time helping design and write a few of the posts.

After 6 months helping my BFF my work as a door sales person got crazy busy and I had to step back but in the recesses of my mind my own blog still drifted.  What did I have to offer?  Did I care if anyone read it or was it more for me?

As far as what I have to offer well I have been in the Building Industry selling doors, frames and hardware for 16 years.  I love doors.  I love supplying them, I love walking through them to see what is on the other side, I like peeking around them.  But what I like best is the proverbial doorway, the one where I have been standing on a threshold trying to take the next step.  This will be a personal and business blog.  I will be writing about my experiences, companies and customer service that impress me, and life.

I hope you drop by often, no need to knock because the door is always open.

Now, deep breath, I am stepping through the cracked door and becoming a blogger!

  6. So would this officially then be the first comment? BTW -- I love doors too (just not as much as hardware :~)) and writing is only communication in, well, written form ... never let words stand in the way of what you are trying to say -- just say it.

    cheers! ~jb

  8. I love this phrase:

"I love doors. I love supplying them, I love walking through them to see what is on the other side, I like peeking around them. But what I like best is the proverbial doorway, the one where I have been standing on a threshold trying to take the next step."
